NEW YORK, SAN FRANCISCO, SYDNEY – 8 January 2020 — CBL Markets (CBL), an XCHG company and leading spot commodity exchange, has announced a new record trading month for December 2019. The volume was underpinned by the International Carbon Market and Australian Water Market.

CBL Markets saw a significant increase in interest in international carbon in the second half of 2019, with more than 2.2 million Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) credits traded through the month of December. This uplift in global demand has been driven by increased corporate action and new industry programs like the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

Despite the Australian Water Market suffering from decreased volume as a result of extended drought, water market operator H2OX has seen a significant increase in customer numbers and market share through December—a result of its independent, transparent offering and a popular shift to a fixed-fee structure in July 2019.

In light of the devastating bushfires across Australia, XCHG will donate all of its trading revenues on Thursday 16 January 2020 to the Salvation Army Disaster Appeal, which provides support and assistance to victims, evacuees, and first-line responders.

The record trading month follows a series of announcements as XCHG expands its international carbon offerings and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), including the acquisition of the APX Environmental Management Account (EMA) in December.
